SUPPORT THE INTERNATIONAL PRICING INDEX
Right now, Americans pay up to three times more for prescription drugs than other countries. The International Pricing Index would drive down Medicare drug prices.
CNN: “Americans pay anywhere from two to six times more than the rest of the world for brand name prescription drugs.”
The New York Times: “A government study said Medicare was paying 80 percent more than other advanced industrial countries for some of the most costly physician-administered medicines.”
In his 2019 State of the Union speech, President Trump called it "wrong" and "unfair" that "Americans pay vastly more than people in other countries for the exact same drugs".
President Trump promised he would lower prices for patients. His International Pricing Index plan would bring U.S. drug prices in line with what other countries pay. We're running out of opportunities to lower prescription drug prices.
HHS: “We propose no changes to the Medicare benefit, just more discounts from drug companies.”
This proposal would lower the cost of America’s most expensive drugs by 30 percent –– providing much needed relief for patients like Ruth.
Bloomberg: “The aim is to drive down the cost of those medications by 30 percent.”
