Who can afford that?

My name is Rebecca Alvarez, and I am an 80-year-old retiree from National City, CA. I’ve spent time in San Diego and other parts of California as well, but I’m always drawn back to my family members in National City.

In the past few years, I have had a host of health issues, including orthopedic issues and vertigo. My doctor prescribed me a Transderm patch to treat the vertigo and relieve me of some of my symptoms.

“I shouldn’t have to pay $100 just to feel normal and find relief.”

In late 2018, they cost my patches cost $25. My pharmacist recently told me my prescription would cost $100, and I was forced to walk away from the pharmacy counter. Who can afford that on a fixed income? That is just absurd.

I simply can’t afford that in addition to my other health care costs, which include appointments and other prescriptions.

I’m 80 years old. I want to enjoy my retirement with my family as much as possible. I shouldn’t have to pay $100 just to feel normal and find relief from my dizziness. It makes me angry that patients have to deal with such high prices in this country.
